Join us for the 2025 Emotions in Engineering Education Symposium (EEES), an Interactive Exploration of Emotion’s Role in Engineering Education!
Theme
Emotion in Motion: Transforming Engineering Education through Connection and Collaboration
Running in connection with the combined 10th IRSPBL, 7th SASEE, and 5th SoTL in the South Conference, the 2025 EEES offers a unique and immersive experience to explore the profound influence of emotions in shaping engineering education, professional practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
This three-day interactive symposium will gather researchers, educators, and practitioners from diverse cultural, disciplinary, and professional backgrounds to engage in critical conversations, build international and transdisciplinary collaborations, and explore innovative methodologies for researching emotions in engineering education.
What to Expect
-
Critical Discussions:
Explore the purposes and implications of emotion research in engineering education. Who benefits from current practices? Who might be excluded? How can we design emotionally inclusive teaching and research approaches? -
Collaborative Learning and Workshops:
Try out innovative methods of emotional analysis, engage in hands-on collaborative learning, and broaden your understanding of the role emotions play in engineering education and practice. -
Research Collaboration:
Work with peers to plan co-authored papers, joint funding applications, seminars, or events. The symposium serves as a springboard for fostering new and ongoing research collaborations across borders. -
Emergent Agendas:
The program will be flexible, allowing space for participants to co-create sessions based on emerging group interests and concerns.
Why Participate?
-
Connect with a transdisciplinary network of educators, researchers, and practitioners to explore how emotions impact learning, teaching, and teamwork in engineering education.
-
Share your expertise, learn from others, and collaboratively design projects and methodologies that amplify the role of emotional intelligence in preparing holistic engineers.
-
Experience a supportive and empathetic space to deeply engage with complex issues of inclusion, equity, and well-being in engineering education.
Symposium Ethos: Emotion in Action
At EEES 2025, we won’t just talk about emotions—we will experience and embody them through meaningful group activities, open dialogue, and collective reflection. Mutual respect, openness to new perspectives, and empathy will guide every interaction, ensuring an enriching and transformative experience for all participants.
Spaces are limited ...
Spaces are limited to enable deep interaction and meaningful collaboration. Participants will be selected based on prior engagement with the Emotions in Engineering Education Network, voluntary contributions to organising activities, and ensuring diversity across cultures, disciplines, and gender identities.
