Work in Progress | IRSPBL | SASEE | SoTL

Call for Contributions:
Work-in-Progress | Collaborative Opportunities

10th IRSPBL, 7th SASEE, and 5th SoTL in the South Conference

The combined 10th IRSPBL, 7th SASEE, and 5th SoTL in the South Conference are delighted to announce a new call for contributions! This special call focuses on work-in-progress, idea pitches, and calls for collaboration to further our commitment to creating a vibrant, innovative, and inclusive community of practice in higher education.
This opportunity is designed to complement our original submission streams (Research Papers, Practice Papers, and Workshops), allowing contributors to share early-stage work, test ideas, or connect with collaborators from across disciplines.

Why This Call?

We understand that not all valuable contributions are finalised projects or fully developed studies. Sometimes, the most transformative ideas emerge from conversations about work in progress, pitched ideas, or collaborative aspirations. This call for extended structured abstracts provides a platform to:

  • Share emerging research or educational practices.
  • Pitch innovative ideas for feedback or partnership opportunities.
  • Call for collaboration to tackle shared challenges or build new networks.
  • Receive constructive feedback from a diverse, interdisciplinary audience.

This new format emphasises our ethos of connection, collaboration, and co-creation, aligning with the conference’s broader goals to foster transformative education and tackle global challenges.

Conference Context

This call builds on the core themes and unique format of the conference:
  • Caring Pedagogies and Sustainable Education: Exploring holistic approaches that center students and diverse perspectives.
  • Collaborative Technologies and Digital Futures: Leveraging digital tools and innovations to enhance education.
  • Community Engagement: Creating equity, inclusion, and well-being in educational settings.
  • Creative Futures: Building synergies between academia, industry, and communities.

Unlike traditional contributions, this new format invites participants to bring unfinished ideas into the conversation, enriching the collaborative spirit of the conference.

How This Differs from Full Submissions

  • Focused on Early-Stage Work: This call is specifically for contributions in their initial stages, where feedback and collaboration are central goals.
  • Single Submission Round: A streamlined process for contributors to share their ideas without requiring a full paper or detailed findings.
  • Broader Engagement Opportunities: Present ideas informally and connect with peers who share your interests.
